King Builder

Often when relationships end, or we are forced to move on without someone or something that we have invested time, resources and effort into, we can be tempted to remain in a place of despair and grief.  We should give proper time to process and mourn the loss of such things.  There is no set time that can be given by which you should measure your grieving period.  Each situation is different.  However, we must take care to not remain in despair.

One of my favorite verses in the bible is……

1 Samuel 16:1 New International Version

16 The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”

I love this verse because here God is reminding Samuel of who HE [GOD] is and who he [Samuel] is. Samuel did as many of us do when we have invested any amount of time into a relationship, project, job, etc.  When it ends, the grief can cause us to forget that nothing was wasted.  We were able to love and build up someone else.  We were able to train, educate and gain knowledge from the experience.  Grief can cause us to forget that our best is still yet to come.

I am in no way minimizing the grief that comes when there is an end to anything.  Grieve.. mourn, but when it is time to build another king, walk forward with your oil (anointing) and a heart full of expectation for God to use everything that HE placed inside of you to build again.

You built before and you will build again!
