As we continue moving through our theme of BEcoming, I want to encourage you to prepare intentionally for what lies ahead.

Purpose doesn't simply happen. It requires strategy, commitment, and a willingness to grow, adapt, and sometimes pivot when life doesn't unfold the way we expected.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:14 (NIV):

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Notice Paul didn't say he waited.

He didn't say he stood still.

He said he pressed on.

That tells us something important. Becoming isn't passive. It requires movement. Every day we are either growing into who God created us to be or allowing fear, comfort, and distraction to keep us where we are.

BEcoming isn't always easy. But I can't think of anything more fulfilling than becoming the person God created you to be. That kind of life is worth pressing toward.

Strategy

As we continue our journey of BEcoming this month, I'd encourage you to intentionally prepare in three areas of your life.

Mentally, ask yourself if your thoughts agree with where God is taking you or where you've been. Transformation always begins in the mind. Many of us—myself included—have made the decision to change, only to find ourselves facing the same habits or familiar cycles again. The answer isn't to quit because you've stumbled. The answer is to keep choosing growth.

That's why intentional strategies matter. Spend time in God's Word. Speak declarations over your life. Journal what you're learning. Surround yourself with people who will remind you of truth when your emotions try to convince you otherwise. Small, intentional decisions made consistently create lasting transformation.

Physically, remember that faith moves. James reminds us that faith without works is dead. We can pray, dream, and believe, but eventually we have to take a step. Sometimes that step is uncomfortable. Sometimes it doesn't make sense to everyone around us. Sometimes it stretches us beyond what feels familiar.

Yet those moments are often where our faith grows the most.

Maybe your next step is making the phone call, submitting the application, beginning counseling, extending forgiveness, starting the business, or simply saying "yes" to what God has been placing on your heart. Whatever your next step is, don't allow fear to keep you standing still.

Spiritually, remain committed to your relationship with God. Everything else flows from there. The stronger my relationship with Him becomes, the clearer my decisions become. His presence shapes my perspective, strengthens my faith, and reminds me of who He created me to be.

Whether you've walked with Jesus for years or you're simply exploring what a relationship with Him looks like, spend intentional time seeking Him. Invite Him into your decisions. Ask Him to guide your steps. He isn't just interested in what you're doing. He's interested in who you're becoming.

Connection

I've walked through many seasons that I never would have chosen.

If God had asked my opinion beforehand, my answer probably would have been, "No, thank you."

Yet because my "yes" belonged to Him, I found myself walking through those very seasons anyway.

Somewhere along the way, my prayers changed.

Instead of asking, "God, why is this happening to me?" I began asking, "God, is this You?"

And if the answer was yes, my next questions became, "What's my assignment?" "What are You teaching me?" and "How can this season become a gift to someone else?"

I've learned that we rarely walk away from a season empty-handed when we've sought God through it. Sometimes the reward is healing. Sometimes it's wisdom. Sometimes it's greater compassion. Sometimes it's the opportunity to encourage someone else because we've already walked the road they're traveling.

Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that we must believe that God exists and that "He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."

I've found that promise to be true time and time again.

Words

As you continue your own journey of BEcoming this week, speak these words over your life:

  • I choose movement over comfort.

  • I will continue pressing toward God's purpose for my life.

  • My mind is being renewed daily.

  • My faith produces action.

  • I trust God even when I don't understand the journey.

  • Every step of obedience is preparing me for what's ahead.

  • I am becoming who God created me to be.
